The Top 5 Gift Ideas for the DIY/Crafters In Your Life for Under $100!

Let's be honest. Gift giving can be hard especially if you don't know the person super well, if they already have absolutely everything or if you're just plain scared they won't like your gift. Its even harder if they're a crafter and they can make just about anything you'd buy them.

Well, fear no more! I'm here to help you find the gift of their dreams with my list of top 5 Gift Ideas for the crafters in your life.

But first, if you know a DIY'er, crafter or furniture painter (or if you are one as well), you might be interested in reading my post about how to prep wood for paint and stain - the right way! It'll get them (or you) off to the best start possible to ensure your project turns out flawlessly! You can read about it here.

So, without further adieu, let's get this party started!

#1) DIY Chalkboard Kit: Give the gift that keeps on giving (and I'm not talking about the "Jelly of the Month Club") No, rather, I'm talking about this adorable DIY chalkboard kit that your loved one can paint themselves and then personalize with their very own message, month after month. Combine it with gift idea #3 and they'll get endless cuteness every holiday of the year!

Everything they need to make this chalkboard is included in the kit, including video instructions brought to you by A Makers Studio.

#2) Next up, we have this DIY Gold Leaf pillow. Isn't she adorable? In a retail store, you might pay more like $60 or even $70 for a pillow like this, but this $35 kit will get them the same look and well as the bragging rights of making it yourself. Priceless!

This kit comes with everything to make a Gold Leaf a pillow sham, but unfortunately it does not include the insert. No worries though, Ikea has them for $6! Gotta love Ikea... If they need a second or third pillow, all you need to do is order additional Gold Leaf.

#3) ChalkArt Subscription Box: Three's the perfect number right? Well, this gift is no different! As mentioned in the first gift, you can pair the chalkboard with this gift which is (drum roll please....) - a 3 month Chalk Art and stencil subscription box.

These stencils are not like the kind you buy in the store, They are a patented, mesh stencil that will not bleed like the cheap ones you buy from crafts stores. The "openings" if you will, are made of thousands of tiny dots that allow the chalk art or paint to pass through resulting in super clean lines. The stencils are also reusable (up to 25x!) and come with a tacky back surface which keeps the stencil in place.

Stencil patterns come in a variety of seasonal/holiday sayings and pictures as well as your basic alphabets, dividers,"squirlies" (that's my own word, and I''m sticking to it!) and much, much more. The stencils can be used with Chalkart and Rescue Restore paint, but it's recommended to have one stencil for paint and one for ChalkArt.

The subscription package lasts for 3 months (you can extend if of course), comes with instructions, a ChalkArt, a Stencil and a special surprise gift. The best part is that it's only $28/month and there are so, so many things you can do with it. Check out the gallery above for some inspiration.

#4) Furniture painting kit - Have any aspiring furniture painters in your life or maybe

you have your own piece that needs a bit of reviving? #5) Brushes! - A brush, is a brush, is a brush, right? Not really. When it comes to painting, getting that perfect finish can sometimes be elusive. As furniture painter, I'm always looking for the best brushes that will give me the best result for my money. I've tried synthetic brushes from the hardware store and expensive round brushes from the craft stores, but none have come close to giving me the results that microfiber brushes do.

Microfiber brushes produce the least amount of brush strokes because the individual bristle is thicker than other brushes and the number of bristles in the brush head itself is greater. Additionally, the microfiber material does a superior job at holding paint as you use the brush. All of these traits combined will give you, hands down, the best results out there.

A Makers Studio not only makes microfiber brushes, but sells them at fabulous prices! Their collection includes a 2' specialty wedge brush for larger surfaces, a triangle brush for corners and a square brush for smaller spaces. They can be used with both water and oil based paint and are especially great brushes for chalk style paints. In addition to microfiber brushes, a Makers Studio also sells a fabulous, dense 1.5" synthetic brush for all paint types.

Combine these four brushes as a gift for your DIY or crafting loved one, and they will love you forever (and so will your wallet!)

Well that's all for now. I hope I've been able to help you find the perfect DIY gift for your loved one!

Sincerely,

Heidi
